A message from Timothy Robbins, Executive Director
Dear Friends,
As winter begins to loosen its grip on Maine and we all embrace the changing of the seasons, Kids First ushers in the spring with new programs and initiatives geared toward easing the way for families who are raising children together while living apart.
First, families may appreciate the unique opportunity coming up in April to attend the First Step program in person while also having their children attend the Kids First for Kids! program in person at the same time, right down the hall! This is a pilot program organized in response to feedback from parents and, if there is enough interest, we will make this part of our regular schedule.
Secondly, with important grant assistance from UNUM, Kids First is making steady progress in its efforts to serve parents who are not fluent in English by producing a high-quality video of the First Step program with accompanying translation into several of the most common languages spoken in Maine.
And lastly, Kids First is hosting a free online workshop along with Town & Country FCU, "Uncoupling Your Money in Divorce and Separation." Please see below for further details.
For professionals, the Kids First Institute is offering its third installment of the Parallel Parenting series, entitled, "Effectively Using Family Systems Approaches in the Development of Parallel Parenting Plans." Further details are available below.
And for the community, our biggest fundraiser of the year is coming right up on May 8th! Our Gala/Auction will be held at Aura in Portland; this event will be filled with fun, drinks, music and charitable donations. More details below!
And finally, we cannot thank our 2025 Annual Sponsors and our special event hosts enough for their generosity when it comes to their unwavering support of the Center and all its many programs and events. This, along with financial help from our generous grantors and individual donors, positions Kids First for another productive quarter furthering our mission of serving the good families of Maine and beyond.
Warmly,
Tim
